Welcome to the Tyler show in Greenville. Both of these corner outfielders came into the 2019 season with a modest amount of hype as potential breakout prospects this season. They have struggled a bit for much of this year, but had big games on Monday. For Dearden, it was his first in a while. Esplin, though, continues to stay hot for the last week. Over his last seven games he has multiple hits in five of them and has seen his batting average climb from .233 to .250. That’s a massive jump for such a short period at this point in the season.

Chris Murphy: 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K (48 pitches)
What else is there to say about Gilberto Jimenez? With a guy like him it’s really hard to scout the statline — it’s not good for anyone, but his skillset in particular. I say that because he is a contact-heavy player who relies a lot on speed and putting the ball in play. In these lower levels with...questionable defense, that can play right into his hands. However you want to look at it, though, he is making his Stateside debut this year and hitting .368 with an .890 OPS. That’s unreal. On the other side, Murhpy just continues to dominate New York Penn League hitters. The sixth round pick now has an 0.82 ERA with 28 strikeouts and three walks in 22 innings. We know the Red Sox like to take it easy on recently drafted pitchers, but he simply isn’t being challenged. He should get a taste of Greenville before the year is over.
