It’s hard to take issue with how the Red Sox have started off their 14 game division clash vs Tampa Bay and the Yankees—the team has gone 5-2 over the first seven games. Just last week on this podcast we were discussing the possibility of being sellers at the deadline after the team lost two of three in Baltimore. The Red Sox sure as hell will not be sellers now that the offense is mashing at a league leading rate and the starting pitching has picked things up. The team will have today off before restarting their gauntlet on Tuesday at home vs Tampa Bay before finishing with a four game set in the Bronx. How will the team look by then? That will depend on what Dave Dombrowski decides to do by the Wednesday trade deadline. Rumors have been floating about, though none juicier than the possibility of Edwin Díaz. I’m confident Dombo will do something, I’m just not convinced it’s that. Regardless of what move Dombo makes, and he WILL DEFINITELY be making a move, this team has showed me something this past week that I haven’t seen all year—real fight. This team isn’t ready to lay down and die and we have a whole lot more baseball yet to be played this year.
