Red Sox vs. Blue Jays Lineups: Rolling into Sale Day

Rafael Devers is out as Chris Sale takes the mound

The Red Sox are on a roll right now having won seven of their last eight games with the only thing standing between them and an eight-game win streak being a 17-inning loss on the road to one of the best teams in baseball. Pretty good! They are now within striking distance of the Rays for second place in the division, and they’ll look to keep the roll going against a, frankly, bad Blue Jays team. Toronto comes to Boston for a three-game set that starts Friday night, and the Red Sox have their ace on the mound in Chris Sale. The southpaw actually struggled a bit in his only other start against the Jays this year, as that came early in the season when Sale was decidedly un-Sale-like for about a month. He’s very Sale-like now, though, and will look to dominate once again.

Offensively, the Red Sox will be without Rafael Devers, who left Wednesday’s game with a hamstring injury. He is still on the active roster and all indications after the game was that this was nothing serious. Still, the team understandably wants to be cautious and thus he gets the day off. In his place it will be Eduardo Núñez at the hot corner. Other than that, everything is pretty much normal with Sandy León doing the catching for Sale like he always does. The full lineups are below.
