The MLB Draft begins on Monday. The draft is one of my favorite times of the year. Usually, it represents a period of refreshment and a loaded farm system can become more loaded. A barren one, meanwhile, can become less barren. With the Red Sox recently being named the worst farm system in baseball by FanGraphs, you’d hope the Red Sox would be able to make some moves to jump up in those rankings.
Unfortunately, the Red Sox don’t pick until the second round. And by then, the elite talents will surely be gone, and it’s going to take fantastic scouting to make up for the loss in overall value of the pick.
We’ve already looked at a few of the names that could end up with the Sox, such as Drey Jameson, Ethan Small, or Gunnar Henderson. These represent just three of the dozens of possibilities that exist for the 2019 Red Sox.
Now we want to hear from you. With the draft upon us, who do you think will end up with the Red Sox? If you don’t know anything about drafting, that’s fine! You can answer this alternative prompt instead: “What would you do to improve the Red Sox last place farm system? Do you think it needs to be improved at all?”
I look forward to your responses!
