The suddenly Hulk-ish Red Sox (13-17) look to sweep away the A’s (14-18) on getaway day behind Héctor Velázquez and a booming offense this afternoon at Fenway Park (1:05 p.m., NESN, MLBN out-of-network).

Last night the Sox pounded Oakland back to the stone age behind Rick Porcello’s masterpiece, but today they send Velázquez to the mound, likely for three innings or so, against Oakland’s Mike Fiers. Xander Bogaerts gets the rest day, with Tzu-Wei Lin filling in at short and batting ninth.

After this one it’s onto the South Side of Chicago to face the White Sox — will Boston ride there on a broom? Watch to find out, or just read the recap here when you’re done. The game’s happening either way. We have no control over that.
