The Red Sox stumble into Yankee Stadium tonight battered and bruised for tonight’s early game (6:35 p.m., NESN) and without Blake Swihart, who was DFA’ed earlier in the day to make room for Sandy León. Farewell, Blake. You weren’t worth the fuss, but it wasn’t your fault.

Who will step into Swihart’s shoes? León’s back and batting eighth, sure, but tonight the Red Sox throw yet another veteran resource at turning their season around: Me. I will be at the game and loudly saying “I hope the Red Sox win this game” or some such chant, and it should make all the difference. That or Chris Sale, who might pitch like Chris Sale once and for all, but now if he does that’s because of me too I think. This just keeps getting better.

The Yankees start James Paxton, and the Sox will try to get good wood on the Big Maple and fill up Yankee Stadium’s baby right field porch with baseballs. Andrew Benintendi’s out again and still won’t get that chance, which means Mookie Betts is batting leadoff. J.D. Martinez plays the field again with Steve Pearce DHing against the lefty in order to keep Mitch Moreland’s hot bat (and luxurious hair) in the lineup.

The good news for the Sox is that the Yankees have been decimated by injuries to start the year, not that we wish injuries on anyone, but Giancarlo Stanton, Gary Sánchez, Didi Gregorius and Miguel Andújar are not in tonight’s lineup for reasons of injury and we’re not complaining. Aaron Judge, Luke Voit and Gleyber Torres are more than enough. Not to mention Mike Tauchman.

Fear Mike Tauchman. And wish me luck.
