FanPost Friday - Favorite Underappreciated Player

We all have a player we like more than others, who is yours?

MLB: Boston Red Sox at Atlanta Braves
I appreciate Phillips going all out to score.

There are a lot of good players on the Red Sox, this is a given, the team is on pace to destroy 100 wins, and may be the best regular season squad in the history of the franchise. Because the team is so good, it’s pretty hard to point to just one person as the reason things are going well.

We all know about Mookie Betts, Chris Sale, and J.D. Martinez. These guys are studs, who even the most casual of fans is aware of. Everyone knows how much they rock, and as such, there’s no point gushing over them.

Instead, I want to ask about the less obvious guys, the hidden “X-Factors” on the roster, the players who often go unappreciated until they leave town. Thus, the prompt:

Who is your favorite underappreciated Red Sox player, past or present? Why are they your favorite underappreciated player?

It can be a bullpen arm, or a position player, or anything, provided they’ve PLAYED one game with the Red Sox. Best of luck with this prompt.
