FanPost Friday: Biggest Surprise/Disappointment

What player has been the biggest surprise or disappointment for you this season?

Toronto Blue Jays v Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox are a good team. This is not a debate. The team has more wins than any other in baseball, and by a pretty wide margin. They’ve avoided losing four in a row, even now, which is something no other team can claim. The Red Sox are going to the playoffs, and very likely as the division champions for a third straight year. What they do in the playoffs is another story, but today, we’re going to focus on the regular season, and how we’ve gotten to this point.

The team has been backed by strong performances from multiple players, but it is a team that has shown weakness at times, as well, primarily out of the bullpen (at least in the last month or so). Some players are more surprising, for better or worse, than others. Some players really aren’t surprising at all. For example, we all know Chris Sale is amazing. Give him his due, but you can’t call anything he’s done much of a surprise (though if you want to argue for it, I’ll definitely hear you out).

So this weekend, we ask you:

What player on the 2018 Red Sox has been the biggest surprise and/or disappointment to you, thus far?

You can do both topics at once if you wish. Any player on this team is valid, provided you can bring in a solid reason. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!
