Red Sox at White Sox lineup: First crack at the second city

The Sox kick off a series in Chicago tonight behind Rick Porcello.

The Red Sox (92-42) are back in the winning business and look to push their new streak to three in a row when they face the White Sox (53-80) tonight on the South Side (8:10 p.m., NESN). Read Matt’s series preview here.

About tonight’s game: Rick Porcello (15-7, 4.18 ERA), who has been brutalized by the home run ball as of late, will try to keep it in the yard against a Chicago team that, despite its record, can do some damage with the dinger, though maybe less so without José Abreu. They can also suffer damage from the homer, and to that end, the White Sox start Lucas Giolito (10-9, 5.85 ERA), whose year has been... not great.

Mitch Moreland is still out, so Brock Holt is starting at first base and batting sixth. Everyone else moves up a spot and it’s just as you’d expect. Sandy León is in to catch Porcello, as usual. For the White Sox, old friend Yoan Moncada bats sixth and that’s about that.

About last night’s game: David Price got hit in the hand with a comebacker and things were pretty tense until an 11-run 7th inning put the Sox way, way ahead. They’d win 14-6, and you can read Matt’s recap here.

Forecast: 67 degrees and cloudless. Uncommonly nice weather for Chicago. They’ll take it, I’m sure.
