Red Sox vs. Yankees lineup: Can Rick Porcello keep the party going?

The scorching Sox face the slumping Luis Severino tonight at Fenway.

The Red Sox (76-34), who may finally be done scoring in last night’s game, look to extend their American League East lead to 7.5 games behind Rick Porcello (13-4, 4.03 ERA) tonight against the Yankees (68-39) at Fenway Park (7:10 p.m., NESN, MLBN out-of-network).

About tonight’s game: Porcello, who has held the Yanks to a 3.65 ERA this year over two starts, gets the nod against Luis Severino (14-4, 2.94 ERA), a onetime Cy Young contender who, while boasting an almost identical 3.56 ERA against the Sox, has also been flailing recently. He’s got an ERA of 5.12 over his last 7 games which is bad. Hopefully his down streak continues tonight and the Yankees lose again. Hot take, I know.

The lineup is virtually identical from yesterday, with Steve Pearce staying at first base against the righty for reasons you can probably figure out. Sandy León’s back at catcher, and Blake Swihart returns to his natural habitat, riding the pine.

About last night’s game: The Sox fell behind 3-0 after 3 batters. They won 15-7. Pearce hit three homers. It kicked ass. Here’s Matt’s recap.

Forecast: 86 degrees at gametime with a 1 percent chance of rain, so I’m telling you there’s a chance.

Today’s reading: I wrote about Mitch Moreland, who’s hobbling right now, while Jake wrote about Ian Kinsler being a Dustin Pedroia clone.

A good tweet from last night (of which there were many):
