Red Sox vs. Rangers: Back home and on top of the world

It’s Eduardo Rodriguez vs. Mike Minor tonight at Fenway,

MLB: Los Angeles Angels at Boston Red Sox
He will give it to YOU!
Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

The Major League Baseball-best Red Sox (62-29) return home from a road trip on a six-game winning streak they look to extend tonight back at Fenway Park (7:10 p.m., NESN) against the Rangers (40-51). Read Matt’s series preview here.

About tonight’s game: Eduardo Rodriguez (10-3, 3.84 ERA), fresh off a blistering July 4th start against the Nationals, settles in to face old friend Adrián Beltré and the Rangers. Texas counters with fellow lefty Mike Minor (6-3, 4.63 ERA), which leads to some shenanigans in the Sox lineup: Mookie Betts is in center, J.D. Martinez is in right, Steve Pearce is at DH and batting cleanup, while Mitch Moreland is at first and batting sixth. Rafael Devers has third and bats eighth.

For the Rangers, Jurickson Profar is still around. I know!

About yesterday’s game: Not a total destruction of Kansas City like the previous two games, but definitive enough behind Rick Porcello for a 7-4 win. Read Matt’s recap here.

Forecast: 86 and sunny at gametime.

Today’s reading: Cody Rivera genuflects in the majesty of last week.
