The news second baseman starts and bats sixth, while Mookie Betts gets the day off.

The Red Sox (75-33) look to win their fifth straight game when they face former Cy Young Award winner Jake Arrietta (8-6, 3.45 ERA) and the Phillies (58-48) to close out a two-game set tonight at Fenway Park (7:10 p.m., NESN, ESPN out-of-market).

About tonight’s game: The struggling Drew Pomeranz (1-4, 6.91 ERA) will take the hill for a new-look Red Sox lineup that features recently acquired Ian Kinsler at second base, Andrew Benintendi batting leadoff, Blake Swihart catching and batting second (!), Mitch Moreland is hitting third, J.D. Martinez fourth and Brock Holt DHing way down in eighth. Mookie Betts has the day off. I don’t even know where to start with any of this, but the important things are that a) they’re facing Arrieta, who is good, and,b) Odubel Herrera, who is also good, is on the bench today, which is good.

About last night’s game: Aaron Nola and David Price both pitched out of their minds, and Blake Swihart hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the 13th inning to lead the Sox to a 2-1 win. Read Matt’s recap here.

Forecast: 79 degree, no rain. Also good.

Today’s reading: Matt likes the Kinsler trade... a lot.
