The Red Sox (71-31), 40 games over .500 for the first time in almost 60 years, are scheduled to battle both the elements and the Orioles (28-73) tonight at a soggy, potentially unplayable Camden Yards (7:05 p.m., NESN), when they look to put Baltimore an eye-popping 43.5 games back behind a newly healthy Drew Pomeranz (1-3, 6.81 ERA).
About tonight’s game: Pomeranz, in his first game back from the Disabled List, will look to finally turn into something resembling his 2017 self. He’ll be faced by 24-year-old right Yefry Ramirez (0-3, 3.09 ERA), who has shown solid strikeout-and-walk stuff in limited action this year.
Jackie Bradley Jr., who has been hitting everything in sight when not walking, jumps up to the sixth spot in the order, and Blake Swihart is behind the plate. Eduardo Núñez is at second.
About last night’s game: The game was delayed for 90 minutes after 6 minutes of play, then got stopped again, and eventually the Sox bulit up a 5-0 leading heading into the night. The Orioles came back just as the rain reappeared, but Craig Kimbrel nailed the door shut in a tense ninth to seal the 5-3 win. Read Matt’s recap here.
Forecast: Same shit as yesterday.
