Red Sox vs. Angels lineup: Let the second half begin

Brian Johnson starts game 82 tonight at Fenway.

The Red Sox (54-27) play their 82nd game of the year tonight (7:10 p.m., NESN, ESPN) against Angels (41-40), a team against which they are 5-0 this year, and versus which they have scored at least 8 runs in each of those games. It’s really quite something.

About tonight’s game: The Sox look to keep the offense flowing for Brian Johnson (1-2, 4.50 ERA), who slides into the team’s wobbly fifth rotation spot, at least for the moment. He’ll be matched by Jaime Barria (5-3, 3.40 ERA). Not much to report lineup-wise except Brock Holt is in the rotating second base spot. Red Sox legend Chris Young gets the start in center for the Angels.

About last night’s game: It was an exciting, maddening game that saw the Sox win 9-6 behind the bottom three in the order. Read Matt’s wild recap here.

Forecast: 72 degrees with a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms — likely the very same ones raining upon my New York house as I write this at 3:30. I told them to go to hell, at least until the Angels are out of town. Get it?

Today’s listening: I was allegedly on yesterday’s edition of the Red Seat podcast, but I didn’t do a ton of talking until we got a subject I am really comfortable with: Making fun of Jake. Listen here.

A good tweet from yesterday:
