Red Sox vs. Mariners lineup: Will they score a billion runs again tonight?

Is it baseball time, or will another football game break out tonight in the Fens?

MLB: Seattle Mariners at Boston Red Sox
Please hammer, hurt ‘em.

The Red Sox (51-26) look to push back the Mariners (46-30) after last night’s thumping affair when the two teams square off tonight at Fenway Park (7:15 p.m., FOX).

About tonight’s game: The surging Eduardo Rodriguez (9.1, 3.59 ERA) takes to the hill against the same team he held to two runs over six innings (with nine strikeouts) on Sunday in Seattle. He’ll be matched by veteran righty Mike Leake (7-4, 4.47 ERA), who will fight for the rest of his life to get the Reds stink off him. He won’t have to deal with Mookie Betts or Xander Bogaerts, both of whom are out for this one — no idea why, friends. Tzu-Wei Lin, recently recalled, is leading off. Not a joke! Really happening.

About last night’s game: J.D. Martinez had a touchdown, Andrew Benintendi a field goal and the defense notched two safeties as the Sox survived the Mariners, 14-10. Read Matt’s recap here.

Forecast: Cloudy, 60 degrees and a 15 percent chance of rain.

Today’s reading: E-Rod has been using his cutter more and his results are getting better, writes Matt.
