Red Sox at Yankees lineup: Rick Porcello faces his toughest test yet

Last night the Sox were stymied by Luis Severino. Can Pretty Ricky return the favor?

The Red Sox (25-10) and Yankees (25-10) square off in the Bronx tonight (7:05 p.m., NESN, ESPN) for control of the American League East... at least until tomorrow.

About tonight’s game: Rick Porcello (5-0), who has been lights-out to start the season, gets the start in place of injured David Price. He’ll face Masahiro Tanaka (4-2, 4.39 ERA), who ought to present an easier challenge than last night’s starter, Luis Severino. That guy’s good.

Jackie Bradley Jr. is out of today’s lineup and Mitch Moreland is in it, batting sixth, and for that you can thank Matt. The positional rotation is such that Mookie Betts will make his second start of the year in center while J.D. Martinez will patrol the Stadium’s tiny right field. Additionally, Rafael Devers falls all the way to eighth in the batting order while Sandy Leon, Porcello’s personal catcher this year, bats ninth.

About last night’s game: Severino was huge, the Sox bats were not and Alex Cora made some strange lineup decisions en route to a 3-2 Boston loss. Read Matt’s recap here.

Forecast: It’s pretty nice outside my window as I type this and I live close to the stadium, so I’m gonna say “pretty nice.” Basic spring weather. The computer backs me up on this.

Today’s reading: I keep putting my own stuff in here and while that wasn’t the plan I wrote for Deadspin so you can deal with it.

A good tweet from last night:
