Red Sox vs. Blue Jays lineup: Day baseball, and it’s weird

Mookie Betts is out, Blake Swihart’s at first, Eduaro Núñez is at DH, JBJ is in right field, and more!

The Red Sox (38-17) look to win their third in a row over the Blue Jays (25-30) this afternoon at Fenway Park (1:05 p.m., NESN, MLBN out-of-market) behind Eduardo Rodriguez (5-1, 4.02 ERA).

About today’s game: E-Rod will square off against Toronto’s Sam Gaviglio (2-0, 2.30 ERA), whom a Twitter friend calling “Toronto’s Bobby Poyner,” so... I like him, I guess. He’ll face another Mookie Betts-lineup that will also be missing Dustin Pedroia, who sits for the day game after a night game. Mitch Moreland’s also sitting, which means Rafael Devers is batting cleanup and, at first base, is none other than Blake Aubrey Swihart, long may he reign.

About yesterday’s game: Rick Porcello banged, Xander went yard, everybody hit and Craig Kimbrel put out a late fire as the Sox won, 8-3. Read Matt’s recap here.

Forecast: 65 degrees with some clouds. Great baseball weather.

Today’s reading: “Boston Should Be Worried About Drew Pomeranz,” by Dave Cameron at FanGraphs. He wrote it in September, but it’s especially relevant now, and alarmingly prescient. Mostly just alarming.

A good tweet from yesterday:
