The Red Sox (37-17) and Rick Porcello (6-2, 3.74 ERA) look to build on a Memorial Day victory when they face the Blue Jays (25-29) tonight at Fenway Park (7:10 p.m., NESN).
About tonight’s game: Porcello, who has a 6.00 ERA in May, will try to break out his funk against similarly scuffling Marco Estrada (2-5, 5.40 ERA), who’s been in one all year. For Estrada’s part, he’ll miss Mookie Betts, who sits out a third straight game with left side tightness. Dustin Pedroia is back in the lineup at second base, which sends Eduardo Nunez to the pine. Sandy León gets the start with Porcello on the mound,
About yesterday’s game: It was the Beni show, as leadoff hitter Andrew Benintendi homered, tripled and singled en route to a 8-3 thwacking of the Jays behind David Price. Read Matt’s recap here.
Forecast: Around 70 at game time, which is pretty nice.
Today’s reading: Rafael Devers is trending in the right direction, sayeth Matt.
A good tweet from yesterday:
Since April 26, Andrew Benintendi is hitting .342 with 1.032 OPS. He's eighth in the league in batting and seventh in OPS over that 29-game span. pic.twitter.com/1SiSPjIS6B
