Red Sox vs. Braves lineup: Sunday Sweep for Sale?

The ace looks to make it three in a row over Atlanta for the streaking Sox.

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Boston Red Sox Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

The Red Sox (36-16) look to make it three in a row against the Braves (29-21) behind Chris Sale (5-1, 2.17 ERA) today at Fenway Park (1:05 p.m., NESN).

About today’s game: Sale will look for his sixth win against Atlanta’s best pitcher this year, righty Mike Foltynewicz (3-3, 2.72 ERA), and a depleted Braves bullpen. J.D. Martinez actually gets this Sunday off, as Xander Bogaerts jumps to third in the order. Rafael Devers will DH with Eduardo Núñez playing third base, and Sandy León is behind the dish and batting eighth.

About yesterday’s game: Mitch Moreland and Andrew Benintendi powered Boston past a Braves lineup that got to Drew Pomeranz early and the bullpen held down the fort in an 8-5 Sox win. Read Matt’s recap here.

Forecast: Mid 50s and it might rain.

Today and tomorrow’s reading: Losing the War, by Lee Sandlin, is the annual Memorial Day assignment. It’s long so you get two days.

A good tweet from yesterday:
