Red Sox vs. Athletics lineup: Can E-Rod pick up where he left off?

Pitching well in thunderstorms is kind of his thing.

MLB: Boston Red Sox at Texas Rangers Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Red Sox (28-13) look to get back on the horse against the A’s (20-21) tonight at Fenway Park behind a hopefully resurgent Eduardo Rodriguez (3-0, 4.58 ERA).

About tonight’s game: E-Rod takes on hipster mustache haver Daniel Mengden (2-4, 4.06 ERA). Rodriguez was great last time out against the Yankees in a rainstorm; my working theory is that given every incentive not to mess around, he trusted his stuff and just let loose like he should every time. Given tonight’s potential rainstorm, he should do it again. Jackie Bradley Jr.’s out again. THat’s all I got.

About last night’s game: Rick Porcello took it on the chin and the Sox couldn’t beat Sean Manaea too badly (though they got hits!) as they fell 6-5. Read Matt’s recap here.

Forecast: Thunderstorm warnings. Blah.

Today’s reading: I wrote about Andrew Benintendi. Please clap. And read it here.

A good tweet from last night:
