Red Sox vs. Royals lineup: It’s Sale Day, but Mookie Betts sits again

The Sox can win their third straight game behind their ace tonight against Kansas City.

The Red Sox (21-7) look to again beat down the woeful Royals (7-21) tonight at Fenway Park (7:10 p.m., NESN) behind ace Chris Sale (2-1, 2.31 ERA).

About tonight’s game: Sale, an anthropomorphic stalk of corn that throws 95 miles per hour, will face off against righty Jakob Junis (3-2, 3.34 ERA). After a lot of chatter that Mookie Betts might return to the lineup tonight, he sits again, as the Sox run back last night’s double-digit run notching squad.

About yesterday’s game: Things started very badly when Eduardo Rodriguez loaded the bases before recording a single out, causing the Sox to fall behind 3-0.

They came back.

Xander Bogaerts hit a grand slam, Mitch Moreland added a solo shot and Hector Velazquez cleaned up E-Rod’s mess en route to the 10-6 win. Read the recap here.

Forecast: About 62 and sunny. It’ll do.
