Red Sox vs. Rays lineup: David Price looks to keep the ball in the yard

A week after getting donged by Khris Davis and a day after Drew Pomeranz was lit up three times, David Price takes on the red-hot Rays.

The Red Sox (19-6) look to snap the Rays’s (11-13) seven-game winning streak behind David Price (2-2, 2.93 ERA) this afternoon at Fenway Park (4:05 p.m., NESN).

About today’s game: The longball has bitten the Red Sox this week, as it was bound to eventually. Price — whose single eighth-inning mistake to Khris Davis isn’t really on par with Drew Pomeranz’s early three-dong night — will look to keep the pill in the yard against Yonny Chirinos (0-1, 2.92 ERA), who recently graduated from a member of the Rays’ ‘Johnny Wholestaff’ crew to the official fourth starter in the rotation.

Andrew Benintendi returns to the starting lineup to bat second, and the Sox are finally at full strength for the first time in forever.

About last night’s game: Pomeranz had nothing, Bogearts had a three-hit night in his return and pinch-hitter Benintendi watched a full-count strike three with the tying run on base as the Sox fell, 4-3. Read the recap here.

Forecast: 65 degrees and clear. That’s what’s up.
