Red Sox vs. Orioles lineup: Chris Sale looks to continue franchise-best start

Boston looks for their fourth straight win behind Sale this afternoon at Fenway.

The Red Sox (12-2) look to pound the Baltimore Orioles (5-10) for the third straight day behind ace Chris Sale (1-0, 1.06 ERA) this afternoon at Fenway Park (1:05 p.m., NESN, MLBN out-of-network).

About today’s game: In what would seem to be bad news for the flailing Orioles, Sale makes his fourth start of the season today. In what would seem to be overdue good news for Baltimore, they send out Dylan Bundy (0-1, 1.35 ERA), a pitcher who is actually good.

Mookie Betts sits after departing yesterday’s game with a foot injury, but it sounds like he’ll be fine. Jackie Bradley Jr. replaces him not just in the batting order, but in the field as well; just as with yesterday’s game, Andrew Benintendi will tend to center while JBJ patrols right. J.D. Martinez is in left, which means Hanley Ramirez is DHing and Mitch Moreland is playing first.

About yesterday’s game: Except for the Betts business, more of the absolute, uncut good stuff, with the Sox blowing past the O’s 10-3 behind Hanley Ramirez, J.D. Martinez and Andrew Benintendi. Hector Velazquez pitched well, Travis Walden got a three-inning save, Hanley went boom, Martinez oppo yard, and you can read our recap here.

Forecast: Not great, Bob! Mid 30s with chance of snow. If Chris Sale’s stuff was off because of the weather last time out, as speculated upon in this week’s Red Seat podcast with Jake Devereaux, Matt Collins and myself, maybe the cold bites him again? (Nah.)

A good tweet from yesterday:
