Chris Sale is back, and it feels like this:
To clarify what Aragorn was saying, Sale will go deep into games, but not this one. A day after a tie, the Red Sox look to get back into the meaningless win column against the Miami Marlins, who ought to oblige, being them (1:05, WEEI; the last time I wrote a game wasn’t on TV it was actually available on MLB.com out-of-market, so it’s possible you can watch this elsewhere). Last spring Sale was throwing certified heat right out of the gate in Grapefruit League action, and he tired later in the season, in September. He has since attributed his maniacal March to trying to make a name for himself in Boston (or whatever) and vows to cut back on the premature fireworks. We’ll see if he can slow the show today.
He’ll be backed by the C team, and opposed by one too. This is the gamethread. Happy Friday. Here is the lineup:
- Rusney Castillo, RF
- Mitch Moreland, 1B
- Rafael Devers, 3B
- Christian Vazquez, C
- Blake Swihart, DH
- Sam Travis, LF
- Deven Marrero, 2B
- Chad De La Guerra, SS
- Aneury Tavarez, CF
SP: Sale, LHP
