Forget the past. Today, the Red Sox and Yankees play for the championship of each other. (1:05 p.m. NESN).

It’s the first game between the arch rivals in 2018 — and for what it’s worth, they’ve both been scorching. The Sox sit at 7-2 and the Yankees at 7-1 in Grapefruit League play, which means whoever wins this one (if anyone, because there are ties in ‘spring’ action) will temporarily be ahead of the other in the ‘standings’ If ‘we’ win, it’s clearly ‘our’ first step toward ultimate dominance. If ‘we’ lose, it’s clearly just a speed bump.

Brian Johnson will start for Boston and J.D. Martinez will not, but he’s coming soon. This is your gamethread. Here are your warriors of the day; we are one with the force and the force is one with us:

  1. Mookie Bettts, RF
  2. Jackie Bradley Jr., CF
  3. Hanley Ramirez, DH
  4. Mitch Moreland, 1B
  5. Xander Bogaerts, SS
  6. Brock Holt, 2B
  7. Sandy Leon, C
  8. Steve Selsky, LF
  9. Chad De La Guerra, 3B
