Red Sox vs. Phillies lineup: Happy Sale Day!

It feels nice to say that again. It’s not Chris Sale’s first start, just the first time I’ve said it this year.

More like Happy Sale, yay! Or not. That’s pretty bad.

The Red Sox move one day closer to the start of the regular season as Chris Sale makes his likely penultimate start before Opening Day when the Sox take on the Phillies at JetBlue Park (1:05 p.m., WEEI). Sale, who rules, will likely make the Fillies look like phools. It certainly is the hope. Journeyman Drew Hutchinson goes for Philly. Come on, Sox! Do it for the Patriots. (This is going to be a recurring theme this year — I will, however often I can, express my extreme displeasure at Red Sox fans who do not like the Pats. I do not like that decision, though I like many of the people, individually.)

Anyhoo, here is the lineup, which is probably the Opening Day lineup too, barring injuries. This is the gamethread. “Happy” Monday:

  1. Mookie Betts, RF
  2. Andrew Benintendi, LF
  3. Hanley Ramirez, 1B
  4. J.D. Martinez, DH
  5. Xander Bogaerts, SS
  6. Rafael Devers, 3B
  7. Eduardo Nunez, 2B
  8. Jackie Bradley Jr., CF
  9. Sandy Leon, C

SP: Sale, LHP
