Red Sox at Blue Jays lineup: Spring training doesn’t count

It counted when the Red Sox were undefeated, but now that they are ‘struggling,’ it no longer does.

I’m old enough to remember when the Red Sox were undefeated through a large handful of games this preseason, as are you. It was fun while it lasted. Not fun while it lasted: Rick Porcello, whose Sunday start was barred by a bad start and a bad finish.

Hector Velazquez looks to do better today as the Sox head to Dunedin to face the Jays (1:05 p.m., WEEI). This is the gamethread. Here are the lineups, the positions for which appear to have been picked out of a bag:

  1. Rusney Castillo, RF
  2. Andrew Benintendi, CF
  3. Rafael Devers, 3B
  4. Blake Swihart, 1B
  5. Christian Vazquez, C
  6. Sandy Leon, DH
  7. Sam Travis, LF
  8. Ivan De Jesus, 2B
  9. Deven Marrero, SS
