Red Sox vs. Boston College Lineup: The B-Team

Not so many regulars in this one.

MLB: Spring Training-Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

The Red Sox are currently playing in their first game action of the spring, albeit not in official Grapefruit League action. As I write this, the Sox are up 15-2 over Northeastern after Kyri Washington just hit a grand slam, and once this one is wrapped up they are going to get set to play their second game, this time against Boston College. This one, admittedly, will not be quite as exciting. For one thing, its doesn’t have the cachet of being the first game. At this point we’re just like, “eh, I saw a baseball game already.”

More importantly, there aren’t many regulars taking the field in this one. Instead, it’s something like spring training’s B-Team with a lot of non-roster invitees. That’s not to say there aren’t some players who I’m interested in watching playing in this game, though. Jeremy Barfield is playing, and that’s rad. I hope he hits 12 dingers. Esteban Quiroz will be there too! Here’s the full lineup.

  1. Rusney Castillo, RF
  2. Sandy Leon, C
  3. Sam Travis, 1B
  4. Jeremy Barfield, LF
  5. Esteban Quiroz, 2B
  6. Tzu-Wei Lin, SS
  7. Ivan De Jesus, 3B
  8. Aneury Tavarez, CF
  9. Oscar Hernandez, DH

SP: Chandler Shepherd, RHP

Just like the first game, this one will be on Channel 25 in the Boston TV market and on NESN everywhere else. It should also be on MLB.TV, though some people were saying that wasn’t working earlier this afternoon so maybe not. It’s spring training for everyone! As was the case in the first game, this post will serve as tonight’s gamethread. That will be the case all spring. No need for two posts this time of year. Let’s save some virtual trees.
