Cole Brannen’s first pro season hasn’t gone exactly as planned after being drafted in the second round of this past summer’s draft. In particular, there hasn’t been much power in his game. That being said, he’s obviously still young and his ability to draw walks is impressive. Some of that is surely due to the lack of command from the young pitchers he’s faced, but it’s still an encouraging sign for a kid who was just playing in high school earlier this year. I’m excited about what he’ll bring to the table next year. Elsewhere, Lozada has come out of nowhere as an intriguing name (both in terms of having a cool name and putting up good numbers) between the GCL and now Lowell.
