This game was a nice little showcase for some guys who figure to help out in September, and also for Kendrick. Smith in particular is the pitcher we are all watching, and though he still isn’t really striking batters out he’s getting good results. Anything he provides in the majors is gravy, at this point.

Holy walks, Batman! I’m so curious as to what is going to happen with Owens after this season. The Red Sox certainly aren’t going to go into the season with the idea that he can help the major-league roster, and honestly he might not even be long for the 40-man roster if they decide they want to clear some spots for guys like Carson Smith and Bryce Brentz. There is talent still there and I still think there’s a chance we see him in the majors, even if it’s just in the bullpen. I just think it’s becoming more and more likely it’ll be for another team.
Lowell W 6-5

DSL Red Sox SUSP ?
Honestly, I’m not sure what’s going on here. The game has been stuck in the bottom of the eighth since about 2:00 yesterday afternoon, according to MiLB.com. These things happen sometimes with DSL box scores.
