Red Sox Minor Lines: Justin Haley picks up where he left off

Justin Haley has impressed since rejoining Pawtucket’s rotation.

Pawtucket L 1-6

Tzu-Wei Lin: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K

Sam Travis: 1-4, 1 K

Bryce Brentz: 1-4

Blake Swihart: 0-3, 1 K

Justin Haley: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K

Kyle Martin: 1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 2 K

Williams Jerez: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

Another strong start from Haley, who is picking up right where he left on in his last stint with the organization. Like with Beeks, there might be a slight chance Haley is called up in September — particularly because he has some experience out of a major-league bullpen — since he’ll need to be added to the 40-man this winter to avoid another team taking him in the Rule 5 draft. I’m not sure it’ll happen, but he’s pitching well enough that it deserves some consideration.

Portland G1 L 0-1 (F/8)

Danny Mars: 1-4, 1 K

Michael Chavis: 0-4, 2 K

Josh Ockimey: 1-3, 1 K

Josh Tobias: 1-3, 2 K

Ty Buttrey: 0.1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 K

Portland G2 L 3-4

Danny Mars: 0-4, 2 K

Josh Tobias: 3-3, 1 R, 1 CS

Michael Chavis: 0-2, 1 R, 1 E

Josh Ockimey: 0-2, 1 BB, 1 K

Teddy Stankiewicz: 5.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 7 K

Stankiewicz is an interesting name to watch for next year, because I’m not entirely sure what they can do with him. He’s shown flashes that he can be a solid major-league player, but they haven’t been nearly consistent enough. Depending on whether or not they’re able to fill out the Double-A rotation without him in 2018, I could see him converted to the bullpen for next season. If his stuff plays up in shorter stints, he could see a big boost in that role.

Salem L 7-8

Tate Matheny: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 SB

Greenville W 7-1

Tyler Hill: 4-5, 1 HR, 1 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI

Brett Netzer: 1-4, 1 BB, 1 RBI

Bobby Dalbec: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 BB

It was another big game for Hill, who looks like he could be getting ready to get red-hot for the last stretch of the year. The outfielder will be in his age-22 season next year, so the hope would be that he could hit the ground running in 2018 and try to work his way towards a midseason promotion to Portland.

Lowell W 3-1

Zach Sterry: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K

Nick Sciortino: 2-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 K
