Red Sox vs. Rangers lineup: Going for seven straight

The red-hot Sox look to take down Andrew Cashner and the Rangers behind Doug Fister.

The rampaging Red Sox (49-35) roar into the Arlington seeking their seventh straight win when they face the flagging Rangers (40-44) tonight deep in the heart of Texas (8:05 p.m., NESN). Doug Fister (4.91 ERA) makes his third start of the season for Boston against redbeard Andrew Cashner (3.87 ERA). Cashner was hit in the stomach by a shard of Edwin Encarnacion’s bat last time out and had to be removed. He’s apparently still feeling the injury but is going to give it a go — it’s been hard enough for pitchers to slow the Sox when fully healthy; Cashner could be in for a long night.

No changes to the lineup, so a note — not to jinx it, but the Sox last lost on Wednesday. Thursday afternoon, John “Fire” Farrell Joiner came along, and they haven’t fallen since. That’s a great reason to smile:
