Red Sox Minor Lines: Rafael Devers goes deep again

It was a quiet day on the farm.

Pawtucket W 7-3

Aneury Tavarez: 0-4

Tzu-Wei Lin: 1-4, 1 3B, 1 R, 1 K

Sam Travis: 2-4, 1 RBI

Rafael Devers: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 E

Kyle Kendrick: 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 2 K

Austin Maddox: 1 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 2 K

Mike Miller: 2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 0 K

This wasn’t Devers’ best game since his promotion, but even in a relatively rough day he was able to smash a two-run home run. The jump to Triple-A doesn’t quite have the reputation as the jump from A-ball to Double-A, but this is still the most impressive stuff he’s ever seen. The way he’s handled the jump early on has been encouraging. Miller is not a pitcher, but rather an infielder who had to pitch because the big-league club has depleted the Triple-A pitching staff. Thank you for your sacrifice, Mike.

Portland L 4-9

Danny Mars: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K

Michael Chavis: 0-4

Trey Ball: 3 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

Trevor Kelley: 2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 K

Basically nothing that happens between now and the end of the year can make this season anything less than massively encouraging for Chavis. With that being said, the breakout prospect has been scuffling a bit lately with just one multi-hit game since July 7. With that being said, even while he’s struggling against the most advanced pitching he’s ever seen, he’s still not striking out at a high rate. That is very, very encouraging.

Greenville W 8-2

Lorenzo Cedrola: 2-5, 1 2B, 2 R, 1 K

Tyler Hill: 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 K, 1 SB

Roldani Baldwin: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K

Baldwin might be someone that we as a fanbase should be talking about more, as he has had an outstanding season for the Drive. After his latest two-hit game, the catcher is hitting .305/.333/.546 on the year with 11 home runs and 25 doubles. It’s hard to really gauge him on a prospect without more detailed reports on his defense, but at the plate he is hitting the ball really well for a backstop.

Lowell L 2-5

Nicholos Hamilton: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 R, 1 K

Brett Netzer: 1-3, 1 RBI

GCL Red Sox SUSP

DSL Red Sox W 5-4

Alexander Martinez: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 SB

Gregory Santos: 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 4 K
