The Red Sox are going for a sweep Sunday afternoon in Toronto, and they’ll be sending Drew Pomeranz to the mound for it to happen. The southpaw, of course, has been on a roll of late. In particular, he’s vastly improved his efficiency and has been able to make it deep into games on a far more regular basis. As always, the key for him will be his ability to rely on all three of his pitches, and maybe even a fourth as he started working his changeup in a bit his last time out.
On the other side of things, Boston will be going up against Joe Biagini. The Blue Jays starter had great success out of the bullpen early in his career, and while the results haven’t been as good as a starter there is reason to believe the results will start getting better. The Red Sox will send a typical lineup to battle on Sunday, with the one change being Tzu-Wei Lin getting in for Deven Marrero. This comes as a bit of a surprise as the latter has been hitting relatively well lately. The full lineups are as follows.
UPDATE: Xander Bogaerts has been scratched from the lineup due to groin tightness. Lin moves from third base to shortstop and Marrero does indeed get a chance to stay hot and will be playing third base.
