A four-game visit from the Bronx Bombers begins tonight at Fenway Park. Drew Pomeranz is on the bump.

And here... we... go...
Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

The first-place Red Sox (50-39) square off with the second-place Yankees (45-41) in the first game of a four-game, three-day set tonight at Fenway Park (7:10 p.m., NESN). The Yankees/Red Sox summer series in Boston has historically been when the pinstripers make their definitive move from tentative to definitive first-place holders; these Red Sox look to return the favor for all that have fallen before them. Or just for themselves.

First-half surprise Drew Pomeranz (3.60 ERA) gets the start against lefty Jordan Montgomery (3.67 ERA). PLATOON ACTIVATED! Andrew Benintendi and Mitch Moreland are out, Chris Young and Sam Travis are in versus the southpaw. Pablo Sandoval is off the team. On the other side, someone named Garrett Cooper starts at first and bats sixth. He’s the Chris Carter replacement. Jacoby Ellsbury bats seventh; he used to be Jacoby Ellsbury.

Finally, drivers on the Mass Pike are officially under a Judge Watch until Monday morning. Beware giants spraying errant balls. Stay safe out there, Boston.
