Red Sox Minor Lines: It’s All-Star Season

Triple-A All-Star Game L 4-6

Rusney Castillo: 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 SB

Bryce Brentz: 0-2, 1 BB

Edgar Olmos: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

Castillo has had a surprisingly solid season in Pawtucket this year and he continued that by having the best All-Star Game of any PawSox player. It’s still unlikely he’ll be able to produce at the major-league level, but it’s worth noting he is getting the ball in the air more. Brentz, meanwhile, didn’t have a great game but he did win the Home Run Derby on Monday night.

Williams Jerez: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

Wednesday’s All-Star Game was almost certainly Devers’ swan song in Double-A, or at least something close to it. While he didn’t excel in the game, he’s done enough this year to know that he’s mastered this level. Portland’s MVP in this one was Mars, who has had a quietly solid season and continues to be my favorite prospect on that roster and perhaps my favorite under-the-radar prospect in the system.

Tate Matheny: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 R, 1 RBI

Austin Rei: 1-4, 2 K

Shaun Anderson: 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K

Wednesday night was the best start of Anderson’s High-A career and the first time all year he made it through seven innings. He’s been merely okay since his promotion to Salem, so it was nice to see him with a step forward in this one.

Roldani Baldwin: 2-5, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K

Bobby Dalbec: 1-5, 1 2B, 1 R, 1 K

Dalbec is back in Greenville. The results aren’t the most important thing right now, although getting an extra-base hit was nice to see. He’s seen a whole lot of his prospect shine come off in 2017, but he still has a couple months to get it back.
