Red Sox vs. Tigers lineup: The returns of Brian Johnson, Dustin Pedroia

The Sox look to do some damage against Detroit’s struggling Jordan Zimmermann on Friday night.

The Red Sox (32-27) will look to get back in the win column as they return home to face the Tigers (29-30) tonight at Fenway Park (7:10 p.m., NESN).

As Matt Collins wrote in the series preview, “The Tigers have been the very definition of an average team with an a run differential of a little below zero and a good offense to go with below-average pitching.” That didn’t stop the Tigers from taking three out of four games from the Sox in early April, but maybe the warmer weather will work for Boston.

Lefty Brian Johnson (2.57 ERA) coming off an inexplicable complete-game shutout his last time out, will face struggling veteran righty Jordan Zimmermann (5.98 ERA). Some batting order shuffling tonight, with Hanley Ramirez hitting sixth, immediately behind Mitch Moreland and Andrew Benintenti. Here are the full lineups:
