July is shaping up to be a fairly busy one for Rafael Devers, and likely one of the most memorable months of his professional baseball career. We already learned earlier in the week that he’ll be representing the SeaDogs in the Eastern League All-Star Game in Manchester. After that, the presumption is that he’ll be promoted to Pawtucket at some point before the month is over. Things are going to get a little busier in the month for the top Red Sox prospect, as Devers will be representing the World team at the Futures Game for the second time in his career.
For those unfamiliar with the Futures Game, it is absolutely one of the best parts of All-Star weekend. The game takes place on that Sunday and features top prospects from all across the league. As you could probably guess by which team Devers will be playing for, the game pits prospects from the United States against those from different countries. Devers also participated in the game back in 2015 and he went 0-2 with a strikeout coming off the bench. Hopefully, he’ll put on a better show this time around.
A few former Red Sox farmhands will also be participating in the game. Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopech will be there, but most importantly Mauricio Dubon will make his first appearance in the game, representing the Brewers.
