Pawtucket W 14-5
Ryan Court: 1-5, 1 BB, 1 R, 2 K
Pablo Sandoval: 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI
Bryce Brentz: 2-4, 2 HR, 3 R, 4 RBI, 2 BB
Steve Selsky: 2-5, 1 BB, 1 R, 2 K
Chandler Shepherd: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
Jamie Callahan: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Sandoval started his rehab assignment on Tuesday, and actually had a pretty good game. Both of his hits were singles, but they each came from different sides of the plate. This by no means indicates he’s ready to turn it around at the major-league level, but I guess a good game is better than a bad one? Maybe? Meanwhile, Brentz continues to roll and you have to wonder if the Red Sox would give him another chance in the event Hanley Ramirez hits the disabled list.
Portland W 2-1 (F/6)
Danny Mars: 0-3
Nick Longhi: 1-3, 1 K
Michael Chavis: 1-3, 1 R
Josh Tobias: 1-2, 1 2B
Travis Lakins: 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 0 K
Rafael Devers misses his second straight game with a knee injury, but don’t be too worried about it. He should get in the game on Wednesday, and it’s possible they didn’t want him to play on Tuesday due to the rain in the area. The rain is also why Lakins only tossed a couple innings. There’s no injury there.
Salem L 3-8
Tate Matheny: 0-4
Austin Rei: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 K
Josh Ockimey: 0-4, 1 K
Roniel Raudes: 5 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 1 K
It was another rough one for Raudes, and I just keep reminding myself that he is still so young for the level. His stock has certainly taken a hit this year, particularly for someone who relies so heavily on his control/command. There’s plenty of time to turn it around, but it’s fair to wonder if we put too much stock into Low-A performance.
Greenville L 3-5
Lorenzo Cedrola: 2-3, 1 RBI
Tyler Hill: 1-5, 1 2B, 1 K
Roldani Baldwin: 2-3, 1 BB, 1 R
Bryan Mata: 5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K
Speaking of Low-A performance, Mata is giving us plenty of reason to be excited in Greenville. He’s probably the most exciting non-Groome prospect in the system right now, and the 18-year-old is thriving in full-season ball.
DSL Red Sox W 8-5
Alexander Martinez: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 BB, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 K
Keibert Petit: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 R, 6 RBI
Carlos Cortes: 3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 8 K
