With a win tonight, the Red Sox will stay in first place in the American League East and they will guarantee at least a split in this four-game series against the Twins. If they do indeed get the victory, it will be without their manager after John Farrell was suspended for a game after his argument with Bill Miller. They could certainly use another strong start from Drew Pomeranz, and even moreso they could use a strong performance from their lineup in which they take full advantage of most or all of their opportune situations.
