Coming off two straight disappointing series losses, the Red Sox could really use some positive momentum — particularly on the offensive side of things — this week against the Twins. They’ll have their hands full on Monday going up against Jose Berrios, one of the most talented young pitchers in all of baseball. He’s had a hell of a start to his season, and hopefully the Red Sox will be able to put an end to that.
To do so, they are going with a mostly status quo lineup. The one change is at, of course, third base. I don’t need to tell you that the hot corner has been a revolving door for the Red Sox this year, and while Deven Marrero has handled the position well defensively his bat just isn’t one you want in the lineup on a daily basis. Taking his spot will be Tzu-Wei Lin, who is making his first career major-league start on Monday. There’s reason to believe Lin won’t be much of an upgrade at the plate, but it’s at least worth a shot.
There was another change made shortly after the original lineups, with Chris Young taking Hanley Ramirez’ spot. It’s unclear as of this writing why Ramirez was scratched, but we’ll keep you posted.
The good news is the Red Sox will be sending Chris Sale to the mound for this one. The Twins have had an odd amount of success against the lefty in his career, but it’s always safe to bet on Sale keeping his team in the game regardless of the opponent. Here are the full lineups.
