Pawtucket L 0-7
Rusney Castillo: 3-4
Bryce Brentz: 1-4, 1 K
Blake Swihart: 1-4
Jalen Beeks: 6.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 9 K
Jamie Callahan: 1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
Noe Ramirez: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K
It’s yet another big day for Beeks, who has not missed a beat since getting promoted to Triple-A. This is only speculation, but it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that he’s surpassed Henry Owens on the rotation depth chart. There are still some bullpen question marks with the lefty, but he’s quieting those concerns with every start.
Portland L 4-6
Danny Mars: 2-5, 1 HR, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 CS
Tzu-Wei Lin: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 SB
Rafael Devers: 0-4, 1 BB, 2 K
Nick Longhi: 1-5, 1 R
Josh Tobias: 2-4, 1 K
Let’s talk about Mars for a second. Not the planet. After his latest big game the switch-hitting outfielder is now hitting .321/.366/.431 and smashed his second home run of the season on Tuesday. We’re not talking about a future superstar here, but with each passing day I am more and more convinced he is easily a future major leaguer.
Carolina League All-Star Game W 2-0
Michael Chavis: 1-3, 1 2B, 2 RBI
Josh Ockimey: 0-3, 1 K
Chad De La Guerra: 1-2, 1 2B, 1 K
Trevor Kelley: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
There wasn’t a ton of excitement in this low-scoring All-Star game, but a couple of Red Sox prospects stood out. One was Chavis, who has continued his huge breakout season by being named the game’s MVP. Then, there was Kelley, who apparently impressed scouts with his deception on Tuesday.
Red Sox sidearm RHP Trevor Kelley was filthy. Struck out 2 in 1 IP. 90-91 from low slot. Showed change and slider. Sink and hard to pick up

Sally League All-Star Game T 3-3
Lorenzo Cedrola: 0-1
Roldani Baldwin: 1-1, 1 2B
Logan Boyd: 1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 2 K
Bud Selig is figuring out how he can make sure the Sally League All-Star Game can determine home field advantage to avoid this kind of situation again.
Lowell G1 L 5-6
Yoan Aybar: 3-4, 1 3B, 1 R, 1 RBI
Jason Groome: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K
Ben Taylor: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Lowell G2 W 4-2
Yoan Aybar: 1-3, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Groome, as I mentioned in yesterday’s lines, started this game on Monday but rain forced a suspension of the action. So, he didn’t get to make a full start, but he reportedly felt no ill-effects from his injury and his velocity was sitting in the low-90s. That’s a good first step, at least.
DSL Red Sox L 2-6
Rafael Rincones: 2-4, 1 SB
Eduard Bazaros: 5.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 8 K
