Pawtucket G2 L 5-7
Rusney Castillo: 1-3, 1 R
Sam Travis: 0-1, 2 BB, 1 R
Bryce Brentz: 2-3, 1 HR, 1 R, 4 RBI
Steve Selsky: 0-3, 1 K
Deven Marrero: 0-3, 1 E
Brandon Workman: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 2 K
Jamie Callahan: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
It was a good day for the Pawtucket pitchers of note, particularly those coming out of the bullpen. All three of Ramirez, Workman and Callahan could potentially get time in the majors this summer — of course, two of them already have, but they could get more — and they showed on Saturday why they could get that chance.
Portland L 3-8
Danny Mars: 2-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
Tzu-Wei Lin: 0-4, 1 R, 2 K, 1 E
Rafael Devers: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K
Nick Longhi: 0-3, 1 BB
Jake Cosart: 1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 0 K
Another day, another homer for Devers. The countdown for his promotion to Pawtucket has officially started. (If we’re being honest, it’s been going for a few weeks now, at least.)
Salem PPD
Greenville L 5-8
Tyler Hill: 1-5, 1 K, 1 SB
Roldani Baldwin: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 E
Hill’s overall performance in Greenville so far this year has been fine, but he’s not really blowing anyone away at the plate. His .263/.344/.395 is perfectly solid, particularly for a 19th rounder, but it’s not a line that will really move him up the organizational rankings. What has been impressive has been his work on the bases. He stole his 20th bag of the year on Saturday and he’s been caught only four times.
Freiberg Marin: 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI
Alexander Martinez: 2-4, 1 RBI
Rafael Rincones: 2-4, 1 BB, 1 R, 1 K
Marcos Martinez: 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 K
Rayniel Moreno: 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K
Alexander Martinez has jumped out as the most intriguing hitter on the DSL Red Sox, at least in terms of early numbers. His batting average is now up to .452 on the season. Moreno, meanwhile, hasn’t allowed more than one run in any of his first three starts and has 16 strikeouts in 15 innings of work.
