The draft has been over for a few days now, and with it being the first weekend following the MLB draft you can expect the signings to start rolling in from the draftees. In recent years the league moved the signing deadline up for prospects in order to ensure they get more time with their new organization in their first professional season. This season, prospects and teams have until July 15 to reach a deal.
It’s also important to remember the rules regarding bonus slots. Every pick in each of the first ten rounds has a slot bonus associated with it, and teams have bonus pools for the entire draft. There are significant penalties for teams that go well over their bonus pool, and it’s highly unlikely the Red Sox will go way over. Generally speaking, as long as they stay below their bonus pool plus five percent, they will be fine. Expect them to be right up against that $5,950,455 threshold. Below you will see a table with every draft pick and their signing status that will be updated when news breaks of anyone signing.
