Red Sox select Jordan Wren with their tenth round pick

With the 311th overall selection, the Red Sox picked Jordan Wren, an outfielder out of Georgia Southern University.

This selection completes the trifecta of college seniors picked by the Red Sox to end day too. This one comes with a fun little twist, too, as Wren is indeed the son of front office advisor Frank Wren. He will certainly sign for a deal worth less than the $131K bonus slot associated with this pick.

Wren, a left-handed bat, hit....fine in his senior season. In 55 games he hit .268/.383/.459 at Georgia Southern. It’s worth noting that the Red Sox selected Wren in last year’s draft as well, that time going in the 36th round. There’s really not much more to say about this pick. Perhaps Wren can surprise us at the professional level, but the reality is that this pick is all about the money.
