Pawtucket L 4-7
Rusney Castillo: 0-1, 1 K
Steve Selsky: 2-5, 2 K
Jamie Callahan: 1.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K
With Sam Travis getting called up to the majors and Blake Swihart still on the disabled list, the PawSox are suddenly a really boring roster. There will be days in which the starting pitcher is worth keeping an eye on, of course, but the lineup just isn’t as interesting as it was just two days ago. It also doesn’t help that Rusney Castillo was lifted after being hit by a pitch in his second at bat.
Portland G1 L 2-5
Danny Mars: 1-4
Josh Tobias: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K, 1 E
Rafael Devers: 0-4, 1 K
Nick Longhi: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 R, 1 RBI
Tzu-Wei Lin: 1-2, 1 BB
Travis Lakins: 4.1 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 2 K
Ty Buttrey: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K
Portland G2 L 2-3 (F/8)
Tzu-Wei Lin: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 RBI, 1 SB
Rafael Devers: 0-4
Nick Longhi: 0-4
Luis Ysla: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 0 K
Rough double-header for Devers, who goes a combined 0-8. The good news, I suppose, is that he only struck out the one time. That’s not to say the day was all bad luck — I have no idea one way or the other — but at least he’s making contact. For a young player like him, if he’s still making contact on his bad days that’s a good sign. Meanwhile, another shaky outing for Lakins. The jump to Double-A was always going to be a challenge, but it would be nice if he could settle down and miss some bats in his next outing.
