The Red Sox minor league seasons start today

It’s another Opening Day

Opening Day has come and gone, and to this point the Red Sox have won their first two games. We’re in the full swing of things up at the major-league level. Down on the farm, though, we’re getting ready for another Opening Day. On Thursday, all four of Boston’s full-season minor-league affiliates kick off their season.

We’ve gone through the minor leagues pretty intensely this winter, and if you’d like to catch up on anything you can click the “Red Sox Minors” box at the top of this screen. The Sea Dogs will play first (if the weather holds up, that is), with their first pitch coming at 6:00 PM ET. The other three teams will start at 7:00 PM ET.

Taking the hill for Portland will be Teddy Stankiewicz, and last year’s third-round pick Shaun Anderson will get the start for Low-A Greenville. The other two squads haven’t announced their starters, but my guesses would be Kyle Kendrick in Pawtucket and Travis Lakins in Salem.

I know I’ve gotten this question a few times over the last few months, so I’ll answer it here again. Minor Lines will continue. It was one of my favorite daily posts just like it was one of yours.

While we focus mostly on the major-league goings on, it will be another exciting year in the minors even if the system isn’t as deep as it’s been in the past. It all kicks off today.
