We are now in the second half of our superlative series, with this being the fifth of eight installments. Previously, we’ve voted on the Team MVP, Biggest Disappointment, Best Pitcher and Unsung Hero. Today, we’re going to vote on the defensive wizard.
This is a surprisingly difficult question for Red Sox fans, because there are at least four elite defensive players on this roster and there could be a few more than are included. In fact, if everyone is playing up to his potential there isn’t a below-average defensive player on the diamond on any given day. We’ll hear a ton about the offense on the team as well as the pitching, but my guess is we won’t hear nearly enough about how great this defense is when everything is clicking on all cylinders. With that being said, there can only be one wizard (this is where I’d make a Harry Potter joke if I knew Harry Potter jokes). Vote for your pick below, and if I somehow didn’t include someone you think should be here, let me know.
