2017 Red Sox Team Preview: Who will be the Red Sox MVP?

New, comments

The first in a series of team preview superlatives.

MLB: Spring Training-Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

We’re so close, you guys. This is the last week without meaningful baseball until November, and because of that we’ll be spending the next week previewing the upcoming season. Later today, I’ll start my positional preview and later in the week we’ll have a big season preview with everyone on staff. For now, though, we’re starting with our superlatives series. This is pretty simple. I’ve come up with eight superlatives for the Red Sox this season, and I want you all to vote for who you think will be the winner of this fake award when the season ends. On Friday, I’ll tally up the votes — which will include votes from the staff as well — and see what everyone thinks. And, of course, you can argue your case in the comments.

To start, we’ll go with Team MVP. Like with the actual MVP awards, I’m not giving any specifics beyond who you think will be the most valuable player on the team. Whether you think that simply means the best player or you think there’s something less tangible attached to the idea of “valuable” is up to you. Below are ten players who I think are most likely to win this fake award. If you have others, name them in the comments and I’ll add them to the poll.
