Sports Illustrated is releasing their MLB preview issues soon, and on Tuesday they revealed who would be on the cover. This year, they are going with three different covers. One features last year’s National League MVP and World Series champ Kris Bryant. Another features last year’s American League MVP and the best player in baseball Mike Trout. Then, there’s a third that features not just one player but a trio of them. I think we can agree this is the best one.

This is almost a perfect cover, as this is the most exciting part of the 2017 Red Sox and it very well could be the future of the franchise (poor Xander, all alone in the infield). The only part that is missing is the victory dance. It’s kind of a let down to just see Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi and Jackie Bradley simply standing there.
And for those of you who are worried about the SI curse, I’ve got you covered. When I was around 12, being the supreme nerd that I was, I tracked every SI cover and checked to see if it cursed them. There was no significant correlation. These three players are not only quickly becoming the faces of the Red Sox, they are becoming three of the more recognizable faces in all of baseball. And that is a wonderful thing.
